How to Break a Fast

Post-Cleanse Diet (Day 1 & 2)

Congrats! You have done it! Now let’s eat… but do not go too fast. You first need to know how to break a fast safely. It needs to be done a certain way. It is important to take your time while reintroducing the food after a detox. Your digestive system has been shut down for 7 days so it is sensitive to pro-inflammatory foods.

Your body will take some time to adjust to having food again. It would not be wise to eat whatever you want right away. The food must be introduced gradually and softly.

How to break a fast is one of the most important parts of the detox. On the first morning, you should start with a small piece of fruit like watermelon, papaya, apple or pineapple. Do not mix them, choose 1 fruit. Do not eat a whole watermelon! Start with a small portion (1 cup). Chew carefully and enjoy this moment.

If you are hungry again within the next couple of hours, have another piece of fruit. Do not overeat. Overeating can cause discomfort like bloating, gas, pain and constipation. You must take your time. Chances are that you will not even be hungry after 7 days of fasting.

For lunch, we suggest you stick with fruit or to make a simple vegetable salad with lemon juice and a little bit of olive oil as a dressing. You can also choose from this Post-cleanse menu we have prepared for you. Break your fast safely, eat slowly and in moderation for the next two days! Read the instructions in your manual and post-cleanse guidelines for the following days.
