There are chemicals in our food and all the products we use in our every day lives…

What is the essence of a detox diet? It basically means that you’re abstaining from intoxicating food for a period of time…
A good detox diet should require that you avoid all processed foods, industrial sugar, animal products (including eggs and dairy), and alcohol.
A detox diet should be centered around fresh and organic plant foods… Like Daniel’s fast.

#2 The mono diets
Have you ever hear of monotrophic diets, or mono diets?
It consists of eating only one food item (example: bananas) or one type of food (normally fruits) for an extended period of time… with the goal of “flushing” the content of your intestines, lose weight, or increase energy levels…
According to Google, the mono diet was the most searched diets in 2016.
This is probably due to the popular YouTuber Freelee the Banana girl who got famous from her very uncommon diet: eating 30 bananas a day!
There is the grape diet, the watermelon diet, the potato diet, and the apple diet.
People report losing weight and feeling more energized after embarking on a mono diet… Even though it can be quite boring!
#3 The smoothie cleanse
A smoothie cleanse is one of the best cleanses you can do for a few reasons…
- It gives you a break from solid food, making digestion much easier.
- Unlike juice cleanses, a smoothie cleanse keeps all the fiber, which is better if you’re interested in colon cleansing or if you want to maintain optimal blood sugar levels.
- Unlike a complete fast, a smoothie cleanse nourishes your body so there are no risks of deficiencies.
- It doesn’t provoke intense detox symptoms like on a water-only fast. You may have headaches if you are a coffee drinker, and you may visit the bathroom more often due to the amount of fiber you’re taking, but that’s it. A smoothie cleanse is very easy and highly beneficial.
Some of the best cleanses are a mix between a smoothie cleanse and a detox diet. This type of cleansing is good for anyone because it is the easiest, and there are no contraindications to it.

#4 The Juice Cleanse
There’s no doubt about it, juice cleansing can make you feel awesome!
The rise in energy is quite impressive after drinking a big green juice… I myself have drunk A LOT of freshly pressed juice!
Fresh juices used to be a daily habit for me but I stopped when I realized that it’s better to have smoothies rather than juices.
The reason is that all the fiber has been removed in a juice… and juicing removes a lot more than fiber. We also lose all the nutrients that are bound to the fiber, like polyphenols!
Some of the health benefits associated with eating fiber may actually be due to the presence of these polyphenols…
But I don’t think there’s anything wrong with doing a yearly juice cleanse.
I think that juicing is great because it makes prolonged fasting more accessible. Many people want the benefits of water fasting but aren’t able to actually do the water fast! And juicing can be the solution!

When you fast for more than 24 hours, your body runs out of sugar and must turn to ketones for energy. This allows you to burn fat cells and release the toxins that your body has been storing for years.
Fasting also encourages autophagy, a natural recycling mechanism of the body, where old and dead cells regenerate.
Water fasting can be difficult for certain people. The symptoms can be very hard to handle.
